An easy Friday.

There isn't much to update on. I've just been working all week and sleeping as much as I can. I had mostly late shifts that started at 3:00 and ended anywhere from 12:30 to 2:30. I had a lot of parade shifts which is always really nice because they're a little bit more laid back than working a zone. The annoying thing about working a zone during the parade and the fireworks is that you can be rushed to do a trash run before the parade and right after the fireworks. Add the crazy crowds of people and it's made much harder to do.

Last night I didn't work until 8:15 so I slept until 12:30, did some things around the apartment, and I decided to go to Magic Kingdom as a guest at around 4:30. So I got my costume together, made my lunch, and got on a bus. When I got to the Magic Kingdom, I decided to do some looking around for my dad's birthday, which is on the 22nd. I knew it would be a little hard because he isn't into Disney at all and there isn't a whole lot of things I could get him that are both practical and don't scream Disney.

The first place I went to was the Confectionary to see if there were any cute things I could send in the mail. I thought about getting him the barbecue tongs that are shaped like Mickey hands but he already has enough grilling tools. I decided buying some kind of Mickey shaped food would be a good idea because who doesn't love treats from Disney? I decided to get an apple dipped in caramel and M&Ms and I really hope it's okay in the mail. I got a bunny made out of rice krispy treats for my mom since it's Easter themed and I want them to have a taste of Easter at Disney, no pun intended. I also got a Mickey head made of rice krispy treats for my sister because I know she'll like that. I asked a cast member if it could all be wrapped in something for when I send it in the mail and she said that it couldn't because it's perishable, so I'll just have to be careful with the way I place things in the box.

I then went to the newspaper stand in the front of the park to get a postcard to use as my dad's birthday card because I don't think I'll have time to run out and get him an actual birthday card. I feel like it will be a cute way to remember that I was in the DCP too, since I'll probably never be in the college program again while it's his birthday. I looked around the Emporium for a little while, decided he would never wear any of the clothes in there, and I went to the ice cream parlor for a snack. I got a mint chocolate chip Mickey shaped ice cream cone and it was delicious.

Since it was overcast and cool, I didn't think the ice cream would melt but it melted quickly. By that time, Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It had started and I decided to participate in it. I danced around with Dale from Chip and Dale for a while and tried to get some pictures, but it's hard to do that without a guest getting in the way. This is really the only kinda decent picture I got.

I like that the Mickey shaped confetti is flying around all over the place. I then walked around Frontierland and Adventureland and over to Fantasyland. At that point my sister, Becca had called me and I talked to her for about an hour. We got caught up in things going on in each other's lives, I tried convincing her to come with my other sister and her husband when they visit in April (fingers crossed), and overall just had a pleasant conversation with each other. During this time I stumbled upon the new Tangled restrooms area. It was so cute! Everything was themed so well and the inside of the restrooms looked awesome. I took a few pictures of it, but I don't want to ruin everything for anyone who comes and sees it in person.

By this time, it was 7:30 and I had to go get ready for work. While I was walking to a backstage area I saw an older man with a professional camera and I asked him if he was professional. It was funny because he thought I thought he was a cast member and he kept telling me he wasn't until I was like, "I know you're not because I work here, I just wanted to ask about your camera." and he told me about how he's been professional for a few months and that he shoots mostly weddings and landscapes. I told him that my sister was a photographer also and that they had similar cameras. At one point when he said he had gone to EPCOT to shoot the flowers there, he joked that people would think it was surprising he photographed flowers because of his biker look. I asked what kind of bike he rode and he said a Harley, so I told him about how my parents did that. It was nice to find out that someone had so much in common with my family, but I had to cut the conversation short because I had to get ready for work.

Work went well but there isn't much to say about it. I walked around and talked to guests for 30 minutes until I was bumped into parade. What was nice is that the manager who was with my group noticed we worked really hard and efficiently to get everything swept up after the fireworks and we got Four Keys Cards for it! Since it's March, Disney does a thing where every Four Keys Card goes into a box and at the end of the week, a card is pulled and person whose name is on the card gets a prize. I didn't get to keep the card obviously so I took a quick photo of it.

Since we were short staffed that night, I got bumped out of parade to give people their breaks so for most of the night, that's what  I did. Then I picked up a position for Main Street South at around 12:00 so I did a quick trash run, cleaned the trash cans, and swept any trash up. Everyone was done by 1:30 and we all got ER's, which was a nice way to end the day. To top it off, I got a ride home from work! Overall it was a really easy day.

Today is my Saturday and I plan on going to Downtown Disney with my suitemate to look for presents for my dad. I hope I find something good!
